Why Cosmic “Critters” Tarot?

Artist, Allison Beilke has always loved illustrating animals—especially the ones with big personalities. She and her sisters spent their childhood either playing with Sylvanian toys (tiny woodland creatures in calico outfits) or pretending to be pioneer bunnies. That lifelong love of imaginative animal worlds inspired Allison to create a Tarot deck filled with creatures dressed in medieval garb. It’s not only fun and adorable, but the varied critters help readers more easily memorize the cards and tap into the symbolism and meaning behind each archetype.

Kristen, on the other paw, has always been drawn to tarot, metaphysics, and nontraditional spirituality. As a professional educator, she longed for a tarot deck that honored the traditional roots of tarot while still being truly accessible to readers at any level. She wanted a deck that honored the Rider–Waite–Smith tradition while feeling universal—something anyone could pick up and learn from, no matter their age, background, or beliefs.

Together, Allison and Kristen dreamed up a deck that could speak to the intuitive child, the wise witch, the curious skeptic, and everyone in between—a tarot deck where every critter has a story, and every story opens a door into magic.
